An Amarnath Yatra Bus Accident occurred on Tuesday morning when a tourist bus carrying pilgrims returning from the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine skidded off the road near Hariganiwan in Ganderbal district. The accident left 39 pilgrims injured, prompting an immediate rescue operation by security forces and local authorities.According to officials, the bus lost control while travelling through the Hariganiwan area after the pilgrims had completed the Amarnath Yatra 2026 and were returning from the sacred Baba Barfani shrine. Soon after the Ganderbal bus accident, teams from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local administration rushed to the spot and safely rescued all the injured passengers.Watch the Full Video on Instagram:Amarnath Yatra Bus AccidentThe injured devotees were initially shifted to Kangan Hospital for emergency treatment. Several pilgrims were later referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for advanced medical care. Health officials confirmed that all injured passengers are receiving treatment and are under close medical observation.Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor LG Manoj Sinha expressed concern over the incident and reviewed the situation with the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal and senior health officials. In a statement, he said he had directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment and all necessary assistance to the injured pilgrims."I have directed the health officials to ensure all necessary assistance and the best possible medical care. I pray to Lord Shiva for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees," LG Manoj Sinha said.The Jammu and Kashmir news comes just days after the annual pilgrimage resumed following a six-day suspension caused by heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions. Authorities had reviewed road safety and weather before allowing fresh batches of Amarnath pilgrims to continue their journey.Earlier this week, the 20th batch of pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu under extensive security arrangements. The 57-day Amarnath Yatra 2026, which began on July 3, is scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.Officials have launched an investigation into the Ganderbal bus accident to determine the exact cause.
