The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of Kanwar Yatra 2026, warning commuters of diversions, restrictions and possible congestion on key roads in the national capital. The advisory, released on Friday, aims to ensure the safe movement of Kanwariyas while minimizing disruption to regular traffic. Authorities have urged commuters to avoid NH-44 (GT Karnal Road), parts of the Outer Ring Road, and adjoining service roads during peak Kanwar Yatra movement. Motorists have also been advised to use alternate routes wherever possible. Traffic Diversions and Restrictions To manage congestion, Delhi Traffic Police has announced several diversions: Traffic on NH-44 from Singhu Border to Budhpur Nala may be diverted via UER-II and Narela-Bawana Road. Vehicles using the NH-44 Service Road may be diverted through Ramdev Road. Traffic from Palla Chowk towards Bakhtawarpur Road may be rerouted via Burari Road and Nathupura Road. Important Advisory for Commuters The Delhi Traffic Police has clarified that the movement of Kanwar Yatris, including pedestrians and accompanying vehicles, is strictly prohibited on the UER-II Expressway for safety reasons. Additionally, no parking will be allowed on the designated Kanwar routes, and traffic restrictions will be implemented based on operational requirements and crowd movement.
