The death toll in the Kulgam terror attack has risen to two after the second injured labourer succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Srinagar on Sunday morning. The victims were attacked by unidentified terrorists in the Kelam area of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir while working at a brick kiln. Security forces have launched a massive search operation to trace those responsible for the attack. Second Labourer Succumbs to Injuries According to a senior police official, the second labourer, who was critically injured in the firing, died during treatment in Srinagar. The two labourers had sustained gunshot injuries after terrorists opened fire on them on Saturday evening. The incident has triggered widespread condemnation, with authorities vowing strict action against those involved. What Happened in the Kulgam Attack? The Kulgam attack took place in the Kelam area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, where two labourers employed at a brick kiln were targeted by unidentified terrorists. Soon after the firing, security personnel rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation. The Lieutenant Governor directed security forces to intensify anti-terror operations in the region and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice at the earliest. Omar Abdullah Announces Ex-Gratia Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the terror attack and announced financial assistance for the families of the victims. The Chief Minister declared an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased labourer. In addition, the Kulgam District Administration will provide Rs 6 lakh in immediate relief to the affected families. Search Operation Underway Following the attack, police and security agencies launched a coordinated search operation across the Kelam area and surrounding locations. Officials said the operation will continue until the terrorists involved in the attack are neutralised. Security has also been strengthened in nearby areas to prevent any further incidents.
