The camera uses the entire 16.6MP full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor to capture a 3:2 aspect ratio, allowing creators to use the sensor's full width and height. This feature is especially useful for content creators producing videos for multiple platforms, as vertical crops retain significantly more image quality compared to traditional recording modes. Internal 16-bit RAW recording without external recorder Sony has also introduced internal 16-bit linear RAW recording, eliminating the need for an external recorder.
