Takeda Plans India Launch of Qdenga in 2026 Japanese pharma major Takeda has announced plans to introduce its dengue vaccine, Qdenga, in the Indian market by 2026, subject to the successful completion of ongoing clinical trials and regulatory approvals. The company said it has already submitted a registration data package in support of approvals across 40 countries, reflecting its broader global rollout strategy. Partnership with Biological E to Boost Local Manufacturing Takeda will collaborate with Hyderabad-based Biological E to manufacture the vaccine in India under the government's Make in India programme. The partnership is expected to strengthen domestic vaccine production, improve supply, and enhance accessibility for millions of people at risk of dengue. Qdenga to Be Available in Both Public and Private Sectors According to Takeda, Qdenga will be launched simultaneously in India's public and private healthcare sectors. Initially, the private sector rollout will cover both children and adults, while public immunisation programmes will follow World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations focusing primarily on pediatric populations. The company also plans to adopt a tiered pricing strategy, offering lower prices for government procurement to support wider vaccine access. What Is Qdenga? Qdenga is a tetravalent live-attenuated dengue vaccine designed to protect against all four dengue virus serotypes. The vaccine requires two doses, administered three months apart, and has been developed to reduce the risk of dengue infection and severe disease. Takeda's Global Vaccine Business Unit President Derek Wallace said the company aims to make the vaccine widely available while supporting India's healthcare needs through local manufacturing and affordable pricing.
