My fascination with K-pop will always be its unique systematization and organization, which is so different from mainstream music. For fans of the new generation, it may seem confusing because
Let's take a quick look at K-pop's different album types and their differences.
The physical aspect of albums will be our first focus before we tackle the different types of albums (aside from the music in the CD, of course). Due to these specifications, Kpop albums are extremely unique, and most fans buy albums only for these reasons. K-pop albums may have more unique aspects, but these three characteristics are common to all of them.
Photocards - A photocard is a hard card featuring the image of the idol/artist. In the case of a solo album, the picture is largely that of the artist. If the album is from a group, you will most likely receive a random member's photocard.
Another K-pop practice is the inclusion of a poster with each album purchase. The size varies, but it can be hung anywhere.
The photobook is a collection of photos. Basically, it's a book that contains all the concept photos shot for the album's promotion. In addition to the track list and credits, the photobook usually includes a message from the artist.
Mini albums are definitely the most popular album type out there. There are usually between five and seven songs in a mini album, which are of varying musical styles. At least one ballad or slow song usually appears on a mini album. The title tracks of some mini albums may also be accompanied by intro songs, which last for around a minute.
As opposed to mini albums, studio albums are less common in K-pop. Because there are more songs on these albums than on mini albums, there is a wider variety of music as well. This type of album is also more likely to include intro tracks and instrumentals.
Few K-pop groups/artists have debuted with a studio album, including Lovelyz's Girls Invasion, Winner's 2014 S/S, and KARA's The First Blooming. Some studio albums contain titles songs from mini albums/single albums that were released prior to the studio album. Touch and I Don't Need A Man are both title tracks from miss A's 2013 second studio album HUSH, which was a follow-up to her mini albums Touch and Independent Women Part. III.

It's a repackaged version of a previous studio album, as its name implies. The fact that a studio album is usually repackaged after a studio album goes without saying in K-pop. In this type of album, two to three new tracks are added on top of the original album and a new title song is released. Infinite's Be Back is the repackaged season 2 of the show. In Season 2, the title track was Last Romeo, but when it got repackaged, two new songs were added (Back and Diamond), making Back the new title track.
Studio albums are more common than mini albums, but repackaged mini albums are rare. Unlike studio albums repackaged into mini albums, these albums have two to three additional tracks on top of the original mini album, as well as a new title track.
Unlike other types of albums, single albums only contain two to four songs. There will be no physical album to sell on the market if there is only one song. This would be a digital single and not a single album.
BESTie, for instance, debuted with a song titled Pitapat. Because it isn't accompanied by any other tracks, and there is no physical album available, it is a digital single. Lovelyz, on the other hand, has a single album called Lovelinus which has three songs and was physically distributed. A digital single entitled Wag-zak! was also released by the same group,,group,,group,, but was only available online.
Many groups from companies with less-than-recognized brands use digital singles. Their groups/artists usually debut with only a digital single since these companies usually have a small budget.
