Lingerie Buying Guide from mother to Daughter

This one is for all the daughters out there, getting excited and jittery at the same time about buying their very first bra. It’s that time of your life when you are excited about adding this new piece of garment to your closet, but deep down, you are a little confused as to what to buy and wondering if the bra you buy will be perfect for you. This is when you turn to your mother for her snippets of advice on this important buy of your life. Moms are the go-to solution for even the simplest of problems of our life and this one dear girl is a decision that will make you love and appreciate your body even more, so why not? We have been there and done that too so let us share with you a lingerie buying guide- mother to daughter.

  • Get the basics right

This includes measuring your breasts so that you know exactly what size to buy. If you get this one right, trust us, it is going to set you up for life with a right size bra. You will be doing this step several times in your life: when you put on some weight visiting home in holidays, when you shed some after going back to college, during pregnancy, and post-pregnancy being just a few of such times. The process is quite simple. You need to measure your underbust area which is right under your breasts. It is here that the band of the bra will sit. This should give you the band size. Next, you need to measure your breasts at the fullest part to know your cup size. You need to then subtract the band measurement that you had calculated earlier from this breast measurement. This will give you cup size as being A or B or C and so on. If you are finding it difficult to take your measurements, you can ask your mom to help you. She will be more than happy to help.

    • What is it that you need to buy first

If you are feeling a little uncomfortable getting used to the bra, try wearing a camisole with bra cups attached to it. This will make your breasts get accustomed to being constricted and staying in one place. Once you have got the hang of the thing, you can transition to a sports bra, but again in your bra size. A sports bra has spaced out cups which give the breasts good support and this comfort factor will make it easy for you wearthem all day long. There is no botheration of a hook and closure in most sports bras so that should be of some help as well.

  • The teenager bra

You don’t need a padded or an underwire bra at all right now, and it would be futile for you to fight it out with your mother on this one. Like always, she is right this time as well when she tells you that you need a teenager bra for your growing and still developing breasts. Go in for a beginners bra that has a wider elastic band so that it gives your breasts ample support when you indulge in sports activities at school or college. Also, buy training bras that offer full coverage for your breasts. A wider shoulder band teenager bra will offer good support to your shoulders that have only just begun to get used to the idea of a bra. Coming to the colors now, you should buy the basic pastel colors which will go well under your school or college uniform.
