How to Factory Reset Linksys Router. You can reset your Linksys network router if you can't remember the administrator password, forgot your wireless security key, or need to troubleshoot connection problems.

Follow the steps below to perform a factory reset.

  1. Make sure the router is powered on.
  2. Using a paper clip, press and hold the "Reset" button.
  3. Hold the reset switch for 10-15 seconds.
  4. Turn off the power adapter on the router.
  5. After a complete reboot, you can use the default username and password to power the device on.

Resetting the Linksys router for factory defaults.

If you are unable to access the Linksys router web-based installation page or have forgotten the router password, you will be prompted to reset the router to its default factory settings. To do this, you must press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.

Note: Resetting the Linksys router to factory default will also reset your router password. Keep in mind that the default Linksys router password is "admin" and leave the username only field blank.

Important. Ensure the Power LED flashes of the Linksys router when you press the reset button. This indicates that your router is recovering properly.

Note: The reset button location may be different for each Linksys router model. Older Linksys devices may require you to press and hold the restore button for at least 30 seconds to complete the process.
After pressing the restore button on your Linksys router, turn off the power adapter on the router.

Note: After resetting, the power LED on the Linksys router will continue blinking for a few seconds as it still tries to stabilize. However, if the power does not turn on even after one minute, you will need a power cycle (learn to direct the power cycle to your Lynx router, then move the cursor to this link and open it.
