There are different troubleshooting steps for various versions of Windows. Follow the steps as per your windows desktop version.

Windows 8, 9, 10 and Vista

  • 1. If you are accessing QuickBooks desktop, then close it.
  • 2. Go to the Window’s Start button and right-click on ‘Computer’. Then select ‘Manage’.

If you have Windows 10, instead of right-clicking on ‘Computer’, right-click on ‘This PC’.

  • 3. On the left side, you will find ‘Services and Applications. Click on it.
  • 4. Double click on ‘Services.’
  • 5. You will have another option, ‘Intuit QuickBooks FCS’. Double-click on it.
  • 6. Tap on the ‘Startup type’ arrow on the ‘General’ tab and choose ‘Manual’.
  • 7. Click ‘Apply’, ‘Start’, and ‘OK’.
  • 8. Next, close the window and open QuickBooks Desktop.
  • 9. From there, you have to download the QuickBooks Desktop product updates.
  • 10. The final procedure involves updating the Payroll Tax Tables.

  • 1. If QuickBooks Desktop is running on your system, close it.
  • 2. Tap on ‘Desktop’ and right-click on ‘My Computer’.
  • 3. Choose ‘Manage’.

  • 5. You will find an option, ‘Services and Applications’. Click on it.
