  • Click the Processes tab, then select QBPOS Shell and choose End Task.

  • Select the Windows Start menu and write ‘file explorer’ in the search field.
  • Click the File Explorer icon, select the View tab and mark the Hidden Items checkbox.
  1. Give a new name to the QBPOS Shell folder:
  • Go to C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit and open the QBPOS folder with the latest modified date.
  • Next, right-click the user.config file and select the Rename option.
  • Change the file name to ‘user.configold’ and close the window.
  • Open the QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale again.

Solution 3. Create a new user and grant admin rights

  1. Generate a new local user account:
  • Click the Windows Start menu and then click the Settings icon.
  • Choose Accounts, select Family & other users (Other users), and then Add someone else to this PC.

  • When the next page opens, choose Add a user without a Microsoft account.
  • After that, enter a username and password, then click Next.

  • Click Change account type and select Administrator under the Account type.
