Everybody goes through that 20 minutes of emotional turmoil between the time from ordering the food to actually getting it on the table.What are the exact stages they go through?

 1)EXCITEMENT

Seeing the mouth-watering photos of the food in the menu, you have this eagerness to see it actually on the table. You imagine how it would taste based on a picture and you can imagine savoring it- every morsel getting more appetizing and you don't want to stop eating it.

 

2) EXPECTATION

The image of the food keeps building up in your mind and it creates a strong sense of attraction towards the food. You keep waiting and waiting; the more you wait, the bigger the picture you paint in your mind. Expectations of the choco lava cake where the syrup flows as you cut the cake, or the smell of the sizzling chicken kebab kept on your table takes you to a wonderland.

3) ANTICIPATION

The insecurity creeps into you. Will the food come to you on time? Did the waiter completely understand that you wanted chicken kebab and not chicken 65? What if they bring the wrong plate? How would you send that food back? This insecurity has you hooked and worried.

 
 

4) LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLE’S FOOD.

You see the other people enjoying their food and a pang of jealousy hits you. This is more prevalent when the person who came in after you, got their food first. You just cannot tolerate if someone else gets their food before you. You see the sizzling hot food on the other person’s table. Things go out of hand when you see that a person who ordered the same food as you got it before.


 

5)MY FOOD, MY FOOD, OH NO ITS NOT

You see the waiter coming to your table. You see that the food is giving out the amazing smell, you wait for it.Every step he takes, you feel one step closer to heaven, to happiness.

He walks to the table right next to yours. All the dreams you built crashes and burns down to the ground. All the hopes you had falls down.

6)Acknowledgment

You reach a conclusion that the food is going to be late. You realize that the food is not going to come any time soon but will come.

7) DENIAL

You go into a state of denial. Till a point of time, you were okay with seeing others gorge their food, but now you cannot stand it. Yet, you try to convince yourself that the food is late because it takes time to cook or the cook has just gone to get the chicken so he can prepare it. You give yourself reasons to believe that the food will arrive.

8)HANGRY

You cannot stand it anymore. The hunger in you keeps increasing but nothing seems to quench it. You aren’t able to control your mind over your body with all the false lies you tried to feed yourself a while back. A state of Hanger creeps over you and you go berserk. You try to keep yourself filled with a bottle of water which was already halfway done 10 minutes ago. You want to drink more but you are worried the water will fill your tummy and hunger will go and you won't be able to enjoy your meal with full satisfaction.

 

 

 9)ACCEPTANCE

You accept that your food is not gonna make it on time or when you want it and you are pretty sure that they've forgotten your order and you try to come to terms with it.

10) DEPRESSION

Half a bottle of water later, still hangry, still no food. You have accepted defeat.

You give up on your food ever coming to the table.
